June has finally brought with it, days painted in glorious golds and skies in the deepest of blues and even the birds have begun to shout their morning song for us. Here’s to letting more sunshine into our lives.
And so, to welcome in the month of wonderful weather and beautiful changes, I have the greatest pleasure of launching my brand new website –
To say Thank You, for all the support, I will be running a Competition in the next couple of days. So stay tuned to my facebook page for updates. It’s going to be a good one.
“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.”— Paul Caponigro
About a month ago my jaw-droppingly beautiful friend, Leonie, agreed to let me take her photograph in studio. We ate chocolate buttons and laughed, a lot. We used to work together so we relived events while I photographed. Her Audrey Hepburn-esq beauty was so captivating and I do hope that I’ve been able to capture that.
I photograph in film and could live forever in the darkroom. But I’ve never really indulged in Portraiture. And so I remember waiting with bated breath for the next Wednesday when I’d be able to develop the film. I find the most spectacular thing about photographing in film is the sheer suspense – how the film will turn out. That, and watching the photograph develop right in front of your eyes. It really is like magic. I think this quote really does sum it up.
“Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies.”— Diane Arbus
These are just a few of the photographs from the two rolls of film I developed. (Unedited and a little dusty)
